yankd

Free where it should be. Paid where it costs us.

Encryption, unlimited history and credential detection are free — gating those would contradict the whole point of the product. Sync is what has a running cost, so sync is what you pay for.

14-day trial on paid tiers. No card required.

Questions

The awkward ones, answered

Why is encryption free when competitors charge for it?

Because the product's entire pitch is that it won't leak your credentials. Selling not-leaking-your-credentials as an upsell would make the free tier's threat model worse than the marketing. Encryption costs us nothing per user; sync does.

Do you cap history on the free tier?

No, and we won't. We criticise Raycast for limiting free retention to three months, so doing the same thing ourselves is not a position we could hold.

What happens if my subscription lapses?

Sync stops. Nothing is deleted, nothing is locked, and the app keeps working exactly as the free tier does. Your history is yours and export is unrestricted at every tier.

What if you go out of business?

The core is AGPL-3.0 and the licence check is an offline signature verification — no server involved. If our issuer disappeared tomorrow, existing licences keep verifying and the app keeps running.

Is the lifetime licence really forever?

It is perpetual for the major version line it was bought in, and we cap it to a launch cohort. Open-ended lifetime licences create a support liability against one-time revenue, and we would rather be honest about that than quietly redefine it later.

Can I self-host the sync relay?

Yes. LAN peer sync needs no server at all, and the relay ships as a Docker image that only ever stores ciphertext.
