yankd

Download yankd

Version 0.1.0 · macOS 11 or later · Apple silicon and Intel

This build is not yet notarised

yankd 0.1.0 is a pre-release. macOS will warn that the developer cannot be verified. Developer ID signing and Apple notarisation are done before the 1.0 release; until then, open it once via right-click → Open, or run xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/yankd.app.

If you would rather not run unsigned software — a reasonable position for a tool that reads your clipboard — build it from source. The core is AGPL-3.0.

Homebrew

Or install from the command line

Coming with the 1.0 release
brew install --cask yankd

Permissions

What macOS will ask for, and why

Accessibility

Required to press ⌘V for you in the app you were in. Without it yankd still records history — it simply cannot paste on your behalf, and the popup says so rather than failing silently.

Nothing else

No network access, no full disk access, no screen recording. yankd makes zero outbound connections; you can verify that with Little Snitch or lsof -i.
